THE JOURNEY BEGINS
New York City, March 29, 2012:

Today Steven Shalowitz Launches The One Way Ticket Show including interviews with NYC Photographer Lorenzo Domínguez, Documentary Filmmaker David Gaynes, CEO & Co-Founder of Brooklyn Winery Brian Leventhal and others.

The Chinese philosopher Laozi, famously once said: “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Today, radio show veteran, world traveler and photographer, as well as host extraordinaire, Steven Shalowitz embarks on a personal journey he calls “The One Way Ticket Show,” a podcast show featuring an eclectic mix of authors, entrepreneurs, entertainers, artists and aesthetes.

His inaugural guests include NYC Photographer and Bestselling Author Lorenzo Domínguez; Documentary Filmmaker David Gaynes; CEO & Co-Founder of Brooklyn Winery Brian Leventhal; Antiques Specialist and Co-Host of the long running PBS TV show Treasures in Your Attic, Helaine Fendelman; and Embroidery Artist Carla Hansen.

Interviews also include signing and entertaining sensations, —Will & Anthony Nunziata. Identical twin brothers, Will & Anthony have performed at Avery Fisher Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and Boston Symphony Hall. The brothers are returning July 10-14, 2012 to New York City’s acclaimed Feinstein’s at Loews Regency, to celebrate the release of their debut album “Make Someone Happy."

“When you hear their interviews, I’m sure you’ll agree that each exceeds my criteria for bringing people on the show who are interesting themselves, doing interesting things, and with something interesting to say,” proclaims host Shalowitz with his trademark excitement.

October 14, 2011:

E.B. White wrote there are three kinds of New Yorkers: the natives, the commuters and the aspirants. As a self-taught street photographer, my aim is to capture their collective yearning through work that focuses on the interaction between the hard-lined architecture of New York City and the organic movement of its inhabitants. I am particularly interested in showcasing how the grandeur of the individual reflects the monumental backdrop of Manhattan.

My overarching artistic goal is to capture city life in general—everything from unguarded waking moments of working folk waiting to go to work to serendipitous instances when trademark elements of the greatest city in the world coalesce into a perfect New York Moment.

25 Lessons I’ve Learned (about photography) Synopsis:
In the spring of 2005, in the wake of my marital separation, I lived for three months in a little church in the middle of Manhattan. At the time I had a choice to make—either sulk in my situation or make the most of it—I chose the latter.

Subsequently, I took to the streets of New York City with my camera and learned I had a latent talent for photography. Since then my photos have been cited, posted and published by over 330 other blogs, websites, and print publications. And this last year my story and photography were chosen in 2008 to join the ranks of style icons Gwen Stefani, Vera Wang and Jake Burton as part the international advertising campaign by Hewlett Packard (NYSE: HPQ) Be Brilliant – What do you have to say? (www.hp.com/go/bebrilliant)

More importantly though, during my stay at the Little Church I had a lot of time to reflect on the meaning of life and the secrets of success—25 Lessons is the story about what I learned.

A LETTER TO A MUSE JUST RELEASED!
December 5, 2008, New York City:

A Letter to A Muse is a collection of poetry which was written almost entirely in the Fall of 2002, as a letter of introduction to poet and writer I hold in high esteem.

There are 222 illustrated poems in this volume. Half are originals created solely by the author. The vast majority were written between August and December of 2002.

The subsequent half of the book consists of entries inspired by other poet's celebrated work. Some are purposeful parodies, others playful parities—all serious inquisition and introspection. The vast majority of these poems were written in response to the reading of the other poem, and a scant few simply thematically matched previously written work. There were 100 referenced works in all.

BONUS: In addition to the 222 poems that make up the original concept of the book, there are also 27 other extra poems that have never been made public before.

"Much of life becomes background, but it is the province of art to throw buckets of light into the shadows and make life new again."
A Natural History of the Senses, Diane Ackerman

the lost man chronicles JUST RELEASED!
December 1, 2008, New York City:

Written in a manner akin to the New Testament parables of Jesus Christ and the free flowing prose of Elbert Herbert's White Hyacinths, the lost man chronicles relays a depth of understanding similar to that conveyed by the likes of Lao-tse, the Bhagavad-Gita, Plato, and Nietzsche.

The lost man chronicles is a modern day testament to one man's journey to become re-immersed in a world which has been lost in the glare of modern convenience and commercial contrivances. Each passage explores a passage toward enlightenment, toward awareness, and ultimately toward rediscovering the meaning of life.

Simple to read and easy to understand, the lost man chronicles is accessible to all. Yet, as facile each passage is to comprehend, as a whole, the work is bound to have profound impact on those who read it.

25 LESSONS I'VE LEARNED (about photography), 2nd Edition, JUST RELEASED! October 24, 2008, New York City:
Husband, father, and corporate employee— Lorenzo's life revolved around home, work, and his daily commute from the suburbs to the city.

Then, one day in the Spring of 2005, he found himself staying at The Little Church in midtown Manhattan in the wake of a marital separation. Living in virtual isolation for three months, he had a rare chance to re-examine his life.

Quite unexpectedly, he found himself wandering around the city to take photographs, a passion he had let slide in the years of pursuing a career and starting a family. During his nightly sojourns through the streets of New York City, he was reminded of some important life lessons—lessons too easily forgotten in the blur of everyday existence.

Now one of the premier up-and-coming photographers on the streets of New York City, 25 Lessons I've Learned (about photography) chronicles Lorenzo’s journey into the amazing world of digital photography and how it helped him to reconnect with the world around him, and to live a life that is truer to one’s self.

Considered an "Internet photography sensation" by Time Out New York and a "Flickr star" by Rob Walker, Consumed columnist, for New York Times Magazine, in 2008, Lorenzo was also chosen to be the HP Be Brilliant Featured Artist
